Lari: Two Politically Bankrupt Groups Try to Destroy Imam's Inheritance
The two groups are those intellectuals that are abandoned by the people and the reactionaries who seek their ideals in the past.
They act like the two blades of the same pair of scissors, said the interior minister in Sirjan at a congress named after martyr Nasiri Lari, one of the martyrs of the Tir 7 (June 28, 1980) bomb blast of the Jomhouri Eslami Party.
He referred to the lessons that our nation should have learned well form the constitutional revolution and the national uprising that led to nationalization of Iran's oil industry, IRNA reported.
"Both of those national movements were aimed at securing justice in Iran, assuring that the people's rights would be respected and a democratic system would take shape," said Lari.
They were after demolishing the foundations of despotism and harnessing the hegemony of local and foreign powers in Iran, he said.
In the constitutional revolution, it was the religious people who created all those spectacular scenes of bravery, but before long, the hard gained Constitution yielded to the tyranny of the Pahlavi dynasty during whose reign neither the liberties that was the goal of the freedom fighters, nor the religious ideals of the pious were to be traced.
Lari said that the nationalization of oil movement, too, had a more sorrowful destiny than the constitutional revolution as during the Mordad 28 (August 19, 1953 American) coup the people's interests were brutally sacrificed at the altar of ignorance and tyranny.
He then referred to the Islamic Revolution's innovation, which was combining democracy and religion, thus correcting the past two mistakes in the course of those defeated national events.
"Yet, this revolution, too, is now threatened due to the performance of two dangerous tendencies," he said.
Now in the continuation of the process of the our Islamic Revolution in which a holy sources of jurisprudence, relying on the power of the people founded a powerful religious democracy, some ignorant reactionary individuals are trying to present a harsh image of the religion to the nation and the world and at the same time, the bankrupt opportunist intellectuals propagate that the religions are incapable of ruling, said Lari.
"They are, in fact, the two blades of the same pair of scissors," he concluded.
